From the Desk of Joanne DeRenzis, Director
Well this is now year 2 of the Covid -19 pandemic and Meals On Wheels is still going strong! Special thanks to the dedication of all our wonderful volunteers! We are also grateful to those who have made monetary donations, food, and other necessities. We received many fresh vegetables and fruit from people’s bountiful gardens as well as “The Garden of Grace”. With the increase in food costs this has been a Blessing!
With Winter approaching it is sometimes difficult for seniors to go out and shop for food or for relatives to visit. If you know of anyone in need of our services, your referral is the best recommendation to send us new clients! Also our substitute volunteer lists decline due to our “snowbirds” flying south for the winter. If you know of anyone who would like to be a part of our team of volunteers they can call us at 717-872-2415.
Safety for our drivers is our utmost concern when ice and snow are in the forecast. We request that walkways and driveways are clear for them to safely deliver your meal.” Emergency food boxes will be distributed to each client for those instances when we are unable to make deliveries. Please watch WGAL for closings of Millersville Area Meals On Wheels or check the WGAL school closing website.
Notices will be given with each client’s meal in November for orders for a Thanksgiving meal. We will be delivering on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. This is the first year in a long while that we will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year’s day since they fall on a Saturday!
Thank you for your continued support of Millersville Area Meals On Wheels and have a Blessed holiday season!
